Heidi Klum, born on 1 June 1973, in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Erna is her mother. She was a stylist. Gunther Kum was director for a cosmetics business. Heidi's father worked as director of production at the 4711 perfume company. Heidi grew up in Bergisch Gladbach which is a town of 100,000 only 6 miles east of Cologne. The German-American former fashion model has become a TV host as well as producer for fashion and business and actress living and works both in the southern part of California and Germany. Klum started her modeling career when she was barmaids at a Dusseldorf nightclub in the year 1992. Karin, a girlfriend of the student who was 18 at that time, encouraged her to be a part of an German talent show called Model 92. The German women's newspaper Petra hosted the show which was hosted by Thomas Gottschalk as part of his talk show at night. Klum had to compete against 25,000 contestants across Germany and Europe before being selected as the third semi-finalist. She was the winner in April 1992 of the biggest prize in modeling, $300,000.
